I am so grateful for this braiding place! I came in last minute and there was a miscommunication with the online booking. When I showed up at the salon the ladies were actually on their way out. They wanted me to come tomorrow but because I am getting hip replacement surgery I was not able to come The next day. The girls still ended up doing my hair the same day which I appreciate so much. Even though they were on their way to leave they still did such a good job on my hair. Everything is so neat Even though I had more than one person helping braid all the braids match. The ladies were really nice which I appreciate. The salon was very clean and they finished my hair in about 2 hours which is the fastest I've ever had knotless braids put in my hair. Thank you so much for taking me last minute. This will be the only place I go to from now on for my braids.

Absolutely love my hair!! Took exactly 4 hours for medium knotless braids and everyone was very polite and they took their time!!! Thank you so much ! I will be returning back soon.

I normally don’t leave reviews but I got scammed and want to warn anyone else that’s thinking about going here. I PAID $120 for a 6 week touch up and this is what it got me. There was no consistency with the areas that she touched up and it was done poorly. I reached out to the owner a couple times so that they could get it right and she never responded to my text. Geez, I was even willing to pay a little for my extra trip back to the shop. If you are going to charge an arm and leg at least do a quality job. The stylist also used a totally different hair color for the touch up which I didn’t notice until I got home under different light. I feel like I got scammed. Don’t go here it’s not worth it.

The lady that took me in was kind but the next Day when I called about how my sons braids came Out, her answer was “his hair is too short” umm no it’s not, He has long hair and this isn’t the first Time we do braids on him with this length. Last place I took him was in LA, and his braids were nice and tight and lasted a while. $40 for these two little braids that I can do myself, looking like that. Very disappointed. I had high hopes for this place, given that it’s around the corner from my house 😭

Rating two stars because the shop is esthetically appealing, but that was really the only plus in my most recent experience there. I received the opposite of a compliment regarding my braids today that I've had in for a week, and was reaffirmed that I definitely didn't get what I paid for. I requested and paid $300 (on 7/22/2023) for small knotless braids. The braids are a bit spacey, the parts are not the neatest, they are closer to medium sized than small, and the final trim and dip was a bit rushed. Utimately, I was in the shop for a little over 8 hours which was surprising, and the first and only time I've sat that long at any African Braiding Shop. I was dissatisfied and attempted to address my disappointment with the the size and spacing of the braids with the shop owner. She was annoyed with me but eventually was polite and open to feedback. There were issues I saw that needed to be corrected once I got home such as lots of loose pieces requiring a trim, a couple of knotted braids, and tangles on the ends, but so much has been going on in the month of July that I honestly did not have the time or energy to go back and deal with any additional issues. Overall, there are some talented braiders at the shop but everyone is not so good at braiding. I considered returning to the shop for next appointment because they have proven their work before, but I was finally accepted into the Black Hair San Diego Facebook page and there are tons of better options there. Long Story Short, if you are particular about how your braids and parts look, I would recommend asking the owner to braid your hair. Otherwise, you should go elsewhere to get your money's worth.
